In an emergency

If an animal is collapsed, bleeding, struggling to breathe, having seizures or has stopped eating, call a vet or an emergency clinic first. Do not wait for a website to finish loading. Small mammals and reptiles can decline within hours, and many of them hide illness until it is advanced.

Finding a vet who sees these animals

Not every practice treats rabbits, reptiles or other exotic pets. Ask before you book. The Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians keeps a find-a-vet directory for reptiles and amphibians, and the House Rabbit Society lists rabbit-savvy vets.
